This monument is visible from the road. It is located at N 34° 54.207  W 85° 15.612. Map it

Marker is on Viniard Road east of LaFayette Road, on the right when traveling east. This monument is located in the northwest section of the Viniard field, a short walking distance off the Viniard Road.

Comments about this monument:
This is a standard Illinois marker built in 1898. It is a 2'6" x 1'2" x 2'6" high rectangular slab of dark Quincy granite. Rock-faced sides; polished & inscribed front. "Illinois" is in large raised letters on beveled top. It marker the units location in September 19th, 1863, from 1 to 4 pm.
