Marker is on Viniard Road east of LaFayette Road, on the right when traveling east. This marker is located on the south side of the roadway, at the northeast edge of a very large clearing or field.

This standard Indiana regimental marker, built in 1898, consists of a 4' x 4' x 4'8" high rock-faced oolitic stone block with a peaked top and a 12" x 18" bronze plaque affixed to its front. It marker the units location from September 18, 1863, at 7 PM until September 19, at 4 AM.
