The Brigade was not engaged on this field. It remained at Steven's Gap on the 19th guarding wagon trains. On the morning of the 20th it marched for Crawfish Spring and skirmishing at intervals with Wheeler's cavalry reached the Spring at 1 p.m. when finding all communication cut off with its corps at 5 p.m. it marched back on Chattanooga Creek and bivouacked near McCulloch's house near daylight of the 21st. Casualties: killed 1, wounded 5, missing 19, total 25.

This monument is visible from the road. It is located at N 34° 54.127  W 85° 16.379. Map it

Parking is available on Wilder Road .

To reach this monument:
Marker is on Wilder Road south of Glenn-Viniard Road, on the right when traveling south. This marker is located in the national park that preserves the site of the Chickamauga Battlefield, along the side of a park roadway, in a small cluster of one tablet and three monuments.

This monument is recorded in the National Park Service database as structure MT-623.

Comments about this monument:
The plaques on the Chickamauga Battlefield were installed by the War Department in 1890. This plaque is blue indicating it is for a Federal unit. Plaques are listed in the NPS List of Classified Structures as a batch input, Structure Number HS-Batch-3.
