To reach this monument: This monument the 3rd South Carolina Infantry Regiment is located in the northwest section of the Chickamauga National Military Park, along a ridge called Snodgrass Hill, more specially on Hill #2 of Horseshoe Ridge. To view this historical marker drive to the parking area on Snodgrass Hill, proceed westward on foot, along the southern crest of the ridge for a little more than 0.1 of a mile, to Hill #2, near the southern edge of the clearing, just inside of the woods, along a trail in front of the 35th Ohio Infantry Monument.

This marker to the 3rd Regiment South Carolina Infantry Regiment was sponsored by the state of South Carolina in 1901. The marker is a simple, rectangular, rock-faced block mounted on a rock-faced base, 3' wide x 2' high x 1.5' deep, with a smooth-faced area on the top that carries an inscription. It marks regiment's position on September 20, 1863.
