The 15th Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Askew commanding, was engaged in the advance made by its Brigade on the afternoon of September 19th, 1863, from the Rossville Road near the Kelly House to this, its most advanced position. It here participated
in the resistance to the night attack of Cleburne's and Cheatham's Divisions. September 20th the Regiment was engaged in and about Kelly's Field until ordered to retire near sundown. At one time during the day it advanced to the north end of the Kelly Field
in repelling an attack of the enemy. Total number engaged 325, Loss, killed 10; wounded 77; captured or missing 33; total 120.
