This monument is visible from the road. It is located at N 34° 56.0386  W 85° 15.5533. Map it

Parking is available on Vittetoe Rd. near  N 34° 56.1604  W 85° 15.5831 .


To reach this monument:
The marker is on Layayette near the intersection of the Layayette and Vittetoe Roads. Layayette Road is heavily traveled. It is much safer to park on the side of Vittetoe Rd. and walk back to the tablet.

This marker was built in 1894, and is a 1'6" x 1'6" x 3' high granite obelisk with a raised letter inscription. It marks the regiment's position along Lafayette Road north of Kelly Field on September 20, 1863, at 11:00 a.m.
