This monument is located along a hiking path that connects Alexanders Bridge Road and Brotherton Road. Park on the south side of Alexanders Bridge Road near Huggin's Tennessee Battery (CSA, MT-1361). Follow the path south to the marker.

This is a standard Illinois marker built in 1898. It is a 2'6" x 1'2" x 2'6" high rectangular slab of dark Quincy granite. Rock-faced sides; polished & inscribed front. "Illinois" is in large raised letters on beveled top. It markers the units position on September 19, 1863 from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M.
