The 92nd. Regiment, Colonel Benjamin D. Fearing commanding, engaged the enemy September 19th. 1863, from and after 3:00 P.M. about 1200 yards east of the Poe House and near 4:30 P.M. assisted in the repulse of a Confederate Brigade. September 20th. the Regiment
held this position throughout the battle. In withdrawing about 6:00 P.M. it participated in charging the enemy's line near the McDonald House, taking some prisoners. Colonel Fearing was wounded on the 19th after which the command devolved upon Lieutenant Colonel
Douglas Putnam. Loss, killed 6; wounded 68; captured or missing 17; total 91.
