This monument is Not visible from the road. It is located at N 34° 54.0371  W 85° 15.3574. Map it

Parking is available on Viniard Road near  N 34° 54.0833  W 85° 15.1037 .
Gravel Parking area on the south side of the road.


To reach this monument:
From the parking area on Viniard Road follow the path south. The path will fork, take the right (east) path. A second path will branch off to the right (east). Follow this path. This path is just before the plaque for Kelly's Brigade (CSA). Near the site of the Hall house, a path will be on your right. Follow this path to the marker for the 44th Indiana.

This standard Indiana regimental marker, erected in 1898 and consists of a 4' x 4' x 4'8" high rock-faced oolitic stone block with a peaked top and a 12" x 18" bronze plaque affixed to its front. Marks regiment's position east of Viniard House site.
