Comments about this monument:
This is a standard Illinois marker, built in 1899. It is a 2'6" x 1'2" x 2'6" high rectangular slab of dark Quincy granite. Rock-faced sides; face ,bevel top granite block, polished & inscribed front. "Illinois" is in large raised letters on beveled top. It marks unit's position on September 20, 1863, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
